A string of car break-ins has one Augusta apartment complex on edge. Police reports show 13 cars were broken into, Friday night, at Cascade Point Apartments, on Wrightsboro Road.

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Broad Street Gas Station Burglarized
According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report, someone threw a large rock through the front window of Bodie Shell Station, located on 13th Street, in Augusta. The burglar got away with about $1,300 worth of cigarettes and cigars.

Aiken County Man Sought For Receiving Stolen Goods
According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office holds warrants for the arrest of an Aiken County man, who committed Grand Larceny and Receiving Stolen Goods with in Aiken County. Julian Q. Gavin, 34, of the 5400 block of Charleston Highway, in Williston, SC is wanted for Receiving Stolen Goods and two counts of Grand Larceny.

SC Cities Climb in Vehicle Theft Rankings
Vehicle thefts may be down nationwide, according to preliminary figures from the FBI, but that’s not the case in most South Carolina cities. Seven out of ten metro areas in SC saw their vehicle theft rates increase in 2008, according to the National Crime Bureau’s annual report on auto thefts.
