Accused Miley Cyrus Stalker’s Case Sent To Felony Court

A Georgia judge has transferred the misdemeanor case of a 53-year-old man accused of trying to stalk Miley Cyrus to a court that handles felony cases, indicating prosecutors are looking at stiffer charges. Mark McLeod’s attorney, James Byrne, said Friday prosecutors are trying to keep his client in jail without evidence that he’s dangerous.

A 53-year-old man charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus is headed for court in Georgia, where the teen superstar was shooting a movie on the Atlantic coast. Mark McLeod is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon. He’s being held at the Chatham County jail on misdemeanor charges of attempted stalking, disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer.

Police Search Appling Home Of Accused Miley Cyrus Stalker

Police are searching the Georgia home of a 53-year-old man charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus while she films a movie in the Savannah area. Capt. Steve Morris of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department said investigators were executing a search warrant Thursday afternoon at the Appling home of Mark McLeod.

A 53-year-old man who told police he’s secretly engaged to marry Miley Cyrus has been charged with attempting to stalk the teenage “Hannah Montana” star, who’s filming a movie in the Savannah area. Police say he returned to the beachside movie set on Sunday, days after he’d been warned to stay away. UPDATE: Tybee Island officials came to Columbia County on Wednesday afternoon to pick McLeod up and transport him back to Savannah.

Appling, GA Man Arrested, Set Free After Incident Near Miley Cyrus Movie Set In Tybee Island

UPDATE: Los Angeles Police Department media relations confirms that it did request information about Mark McLeod’s arrest, but confirms that there is no active investigation into Mr. McLeod.  LAPD just wanted the booking details for informational purposes in the event Mr. McLeod attempts to contact Cyrus in their jurisdiction.  McLeod does have a court date September 1, 2009 to address his arrest for an obstruction charge back in June.

Tybee Island Talk About Miley Movie - What the Kids Think

Miley Cyrus is all the rage on Tybee Island, GA right now. Monday marked the first day of filming for her new movie, “The Last Song.” If things were a slow go at the south end for you or if you’re wondering why the streets were closed, it’s because of the filming. All streets south of 18th Street are closed, which means no parking and no driving. No exceptions. Miley’s presence has everyone on the look out. WSAV News 3’s Randi Hempel spent the day on the island, where everyone was talking about Miley.

Neighbors and leaders on Tybee Island are hopeful the filming of a major movie there this summer will bring a big economic boost to the area.
