Greenwood, SC Man Dies At MCG After Aiken County Crash

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a Greenwood, SC man died Sunday evening after a crash on I-20. Justin Ryan Heinz, 28, of Greenwood, was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Sunday night around 9:27 p.m.

Worker Calls Augusta Commissioner Betty Beard A Life Saver

It’s the latest scandal rocking Augusta’s Marble Palace. In 2004, Commissioner Betty Beard helped direct a donation from developers of the Maxwell House Apartments to pay for gastric bypass surgery for a city employee. It may be a criminal case, but that worker says it was a case of life and death. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

GA Woman Set On Fire Prepares For More Surgery

Doctors are preparing a 42-year-old woman who was doused with kerosene and set on fire for skin grafts. Elisa Davenport’s brother says surgeons at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta worked Thursday to prepare her for the skin grafts. He says she is in an induced coma.

South Carolina freshman defensive end Ronald Byrd will miss the season with a knee injury. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said Wednesday that Byrd hurt his left knee during a scrimmage this week and would need surgery.

It’s groundbreaking surgery, and the first of its kind to ever be done in the state of Georgia, and it’s brought new hope to one Augusta family…and their pet. A professor from the veterinary school at the University of Georgia, performed the state’s first ever dog knee replacement surgery on a 12-year-old lab.  WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has more.
