UPDATED: Family Of Local Businessman Jay Weinberger Issue Statement

Friends and family members are mourning the loss of a well-known Augusta businessman. Jay Weinberger, known for his family furniture business, was found dead early this morning, in Putnam county, Georgia. The Sheriff there says it’s unlike any case he’s seen in his 36 years of law enforcement.

Columbia County investigators are looking into an apparent murder-suicide. Investigators say a mother shot and killed her son before turning the gun on herself. A Columbia County mother and her son are dead in what investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide. Dead are Nancy Anderson, age 56 and her 24-year-old son, Robert Anderson.

Georgia Man Shoots Wife, Grandson Before Killing Self

Police say an elderly man killed his 12-year-old grandson and his wife on the couple’s 57th wedding anniversary. Authorities say 87-year-old George A. Doby shot and killed Jacob Doby first, before killing 82-year-old Moiselle “Edna” Doby and then himself at his East Point home on Sunday afternoon.

Wrestler Chris Benoit’s Doctor Sentenced To 10 Years

The personal doctor to a professional wrestler who killed himself, his wife and their 7-year-old son was sentenced to 10 years in prison for illegally distributing prescription drugs to patients. Dr. Phil Astin was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty Jan. 29 to 175 counts, none of which included wrestler Chris Benoit, who killed his family before committing suicide in 2007 in their suburban Atlanta home.

Prosecutors Suggest 3-Years For MySpace Hoax Mom

Prosecutors want a judge in Los Angeles to come down hard on a Missouri mom who was involved in a MySpace hoax that ended up with a 13-year-old neighbor committing suicide. They say Lori Drew should serve the maximum three years in prison for her role in the ruse that led to the death of Megan Meier, who was led to believe she was being dumped by a boy she befriended online.
