USC-Aiken Students Offered Free HIV Testing

Students at USC-Aiken were encouraged Thursday to get free HIV testing while representatives from Sean’s Last Wish were there. The tests are completely confidential, and students were counseled about safe sex and sexually transmitted diseases.

SC Art Show Features Work from Blind Students

An exhibit of art work created by visually impaired students opened today at the South Carolina State Library in Columbia. The library’s Talking Books Division, which serves the blind, unveiled the works from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The participating artists ranged in age from 5-years to 18-years-old.

Aiken County School Board To Offer H1N1 Vaccine To Students

According to our news partner, ‘The Aiken Standard’, the Aiken County Board of Education voted, unanimously, Tuesday night to offer H1N1 (swine flu) vaccines to all students. The vaccine would be offered through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), after the vaccine is received.

A second school bus accident has occurred in Columbia County, Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. outside Gate 2 of Fort Gordon.

The 12th Annual Mustang Classic Tournament of Bands will be held on Saturday, September 26th. The competition will be held at Midland Valley High School’s L.L. Willis Stadium. The Mustang classic will feature high school marching bands from all over South Carolina.
