Man Found Dead After Covington, GA Standoff, 2 Deputies Wounded

Newton County officials say two sheriff’s deputies have been hospitalized with wounds after a standoff with a man who was later found shot to death. Lt. Tyrone Oliver of the Newton County Sheriff’s Department says the deputies were shot on Monday when they approached the man’s home after receiving a call about a suicide threat.

Police say a Connecticut woman held hostage for hours by her estranged husband is safe, and police are surrounding the house, which is engulfed in flames. Gunshots were fired at the South Windsor house shortly after power was cut to the neighborhood and a SWAT team geared up.

UPDATED: Bank Robbery Suspect Shot And Killed, 2 Others Arrested

A bank robbery in Aiken County Wednesday afternoon, ended with a standoff, shots fired, and one suspect dead. It all started in Jackson, South Carolina. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story. UPDATED: Augusta Standoff Ends Peacefully

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office are in front of a home on Danvers Avenue, in the Pepperidge Subdivision, in Augusta, as a man is refusing to leave his home following a domestic dispute. Deputies believe he has access to weapons in the home and they are cautiously trying to convince him to leave, peacefully. UPDATE: The standoff has ended peacefully. WJBF News Channel 6 does have a crew on the scene and will update this story as information becomes available.

Police Standoff, Amber Alert Ends At Georgia Motel

A stand-off with a former Columbia police officer and authorities at a Georgia motel has ended. A man wearing body armor came out of the motel off Interstate 20 in Madison, Ga., around 9:30 Monday morning and put the infant into an ambulance. Moments later, the man thought to be the suspect was taken away.
