NCAA HOOPS: USC Fined $25,000 For Celebration After Win Over No.1 Kentucky
South Carolina’s first victory over a No. 1 team will cost $25,000. The Southeastern Conference said Wednesday that South Carolina will be fined for violating league rules against permitting fans on the playing area following a 68-62 victory over top-ranked Kentucky on Tuesday night.

Lady Gamecocks Basketball, Dawn Staley On The Rise
South Carolina coach Dawn Staley has the Gamecocks playing more like she hoped when she took the job two years ago. Already this season, the Gamecocks have their longest Southeastern Conference win streak in four seasons and beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 2005. Kentucky Coach Rich Brooks Announces Retirement
Kentucky coach Rich Brooks has announced that he is retiring after seven seasons coaching the Wildcats. Brooks made the announcement on Monday. He will be replaced by offensive head coach Joker Phillips, who agreed to become Brooks’ eventual successor two years ago.

Stephen Garcia Grows Into USC Leader
South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia has come a long way in the past year. Garcia says he remembers getting chewed out by coach Steve Spurrier before last year’s Outback Bowl when he acknowledged playing video games one night instead of watching game film or studying plays.
Former UGA Football Player’s Lawsuit Dismissed
A judge has dismissed a former University of Georgia football player’s lawsuit against the university’s athletic association. Junior cornerback Decory Bryant’s football career ended with a neck injury in a game against the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2003.
