SC School Choice Effort Gains Convert
The issue of school choice and the state giving parents tax credits if they send their children to private schools is back at the South Carolina Statehouse. College students from across South Carolina say legislators should make education a higher priority and restore money to public universities. More than 100 students came to the Statehouse on Tuesday from half a dozen public colleges to rally for higher education.

New SC Bill Would Allow Guns On School Property
A new bill introduced in the South Carolina Senate is either a worrisome threat to children’s safety or a minor change to keep law-abiding citizens from inadvertently breaking the law, depending on your viewpoint. The bill would allow anyone with a concealed weapons permit to have his gun on a school campus, as long as the gun is locked in a vehicle. Silent Witness Ceremony Remembers Domestic Violence Victims
The state with one of the highest rates in the nation of domestic violence took time Monday to honor the 2007 victims of fatal domestic abuse. South Carolina held the 11th annual Silent Witness ceremony on the Statehouse steps. South Carolina currently has the second-highest rate per capita of women killed by men in domestic violence situations.
