New Signs, TV Announcements Aimed at Educating South Carolina Drivers

The state of South Carolina has put up new highway signs and is running public service announcements on television to make sure everyone knows about a law that’s been on the book for years. It’s called the “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to move over if possible, or at least slow down, when they come upon an emergency vehicle that’s stopped on the side of the road. South Carolina Using Mobile Cameras to Find Stolen Cars, Criminals

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is the first in the state to begin using a new technology to find stolen cars and stolen license tags. It’s a camera and computer system called the Mobile Plate Hunter 900, which uses two cameras mounted on the patrol car and a laptop computer inside. UPDATED: Deadly Aiken County Crash Victims Identified

A wreck on New Holland Road about a mile north of Highway 302 kills five people, that’s according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Count on WJBF News Channel 6 for more information as it becomes available. The deceased have now been identified.

SC Trooper Charged With DUI Dismissed From Highway Patrol

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) announced Thursday, June 4, 2009 that Lance Corporal Lisa M. Lindler, of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, was fired after being arrested and charged for Driving Under the Influence and having an open container of alcohol in her private vehicle.

Wagener, SC Man Dies In Aiken County Accident

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 40-year-old Stanley A. Jones, of Wagener, SC was pronounced dead at the scene of a single vehicle crash that happened around 6:15 p.m., Thursday evening.

UPDATED: Kentucky Murder Suspects Arrested In Aiken

Aiken authorities have arrested two suspects in a Kentucky murder case…Aiken County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Dustin Lee Mackie and Angela Mackie were pulled over by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Thursday night, in Aiken County. The Paducah Police Department has also sent us a press release on the arrest of the Mackies, and the murder they are wanted for.

SC Trooper Arrests Massachusetts Man Wanted For Murder

The South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested a man Sunday night wanted for murder in Massachusetts. Senior Trooper J.C. Elliott stopped a motorist about 6 p.m. for speeding on I-20 near the Broad River Road exit in Richland County.

Pedestrian Hit And Killed In Aiken County

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, at approximately 11:43 p.m. on May 22, 2009 a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 25 north and Sweetwater Road, in Aiken County.

Warrenville Woman Dies After Accident Near Wagener

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, Tonya Bragg, of Warrenville, SC was pronounced dead Wednesday at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, in Columbia SC. Bragg was the driver of a 2006 Nissan Altima that was involved in a single car crash near Wagener, SC on May 15, 2009.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By SC Trooper

A pedestrian has been killed after he was struck by a South Carolina trooper on a Spartanburg highway. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says the trooper was headed west on Asheville Highway in his patrol car when the man was struck Thursday night.
