UPDATED: Aiken County Accident Claims One Life

According to Aiken County Corner Tim Carlton, an Aiken County traffic accident has claimed the life of one person. The accident happened near Mt. Beulah Road and Old Barnwell Road, in Aiken County. The victim has now been identified as 52-year-old Joseph D. Randall, of Williston, SC.

Greenwood, SC Man Dies At MCG After Aiken County Crash

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a Greenwood, SC man died Sunday evening after a crash on I-20. Justin Ryan Heinz, 28, of Greenwood, was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Sunday night around 9:27 p.m.

SC Governor Sanford’s Driver Ticketed After Further Review

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has found himself in another controversy. On Tuesday, the governor and his driver were pulled over on Interstate 385 in the Upstate, for driving 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. The driver wasn’t ticketed, initially, but after further review from the SC Department of Public Safety, the driver has now been issued a ticket. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, and Joseph Kasko, have more.

RAW DASHCAM VIDEO: SC Governor Sanford’s Driver Pulled, Not Ticketed For Speeding

The South Carolina Highway Patrol stopped South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s for speeding this week, but the trooper let the governor’s protective detail driver go without a ticket. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s director, Mark Keel, says after investigating the incident, the driver, who is a SLED agent, will now be ticketed. We have the raw dashcam video of the traffic stop.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Dies In The Line Of Duty In Camden

The South Carolina Highway Patrol announces that a state trooper has been killed in a motor vehicle collision in Kershaw County Saturday morning. Jonathan S. Nash, 41, died Saturday around 10:00 a.m. on U.S. 1 in Camden while escorting a charity ride in honor of Trooper Hardy M. Godbold, who was killed in the line of duty in 1992.

SC Highway Patrol Motorcycle Catches Fire While Tropper Was Riding It

A South Carolina Highway Patrol motorcycle caught fire, Friday morning, as the trooper was riding it. The incident happened around 11:00 a.m. at the Publix shopping center on Wade Hampton.

Woman Killed In Aiken Motorcycle Crash

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 35-year-old Christie Valenzuela, of Aiken, SC was pronounced dead at the Medical College of Georgia, on Friday afternoon, at 3:55 p.m. Mrs. Valenzuela was the passenger on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by her husband, 40-year-old Michael Valenzuela, also of Aiken.

Woman Dies In Highway 421 Accident In Aiken County

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a 75-year-old North Augusta woman has died in an accident on Highway 421, in Aiken County. Daisy May Ingram was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-car collision on Highway 421. Ingram was the unrestrained front seat passenger in a 2000 GMC Jimmy SUV driven by her granddaughter, Daphne Ingram, also of North Augusta.

SC Highway Patrol: 42 Vehicles Crash in 11 Seperate Accidents On I-26

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) says wet weather and inattentive drivers caused 42 vehicles to crash in 11 separate accidents on I-26, injuring 16 people.

According to a release from the South Carolina Department of Public safety, a preliminary number of eleven people were killed on South Carolina highways over the Fourth of July weekend which ran from Thursday, July 2, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 5, at midnight.

UPDATED: Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Car Crashes, Burns

According to EdgefieldDaily.com, an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responding to a call of a wreck on Republican Road lost control of his patrol car, hit an embankment, and reportedly was ejected from the car as it burst into flames. An ambulance responding to the first wreck happened upon the deputy lying on the side of the road and began treating him for his injuries. UPDATE: The deputy has now been released from MCG and is resting at home.

SC Troopers To Honor Highway Accident Victims

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is helping organizing a blood drive in memory of those killed in accidents on the state’s highways. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is one of several groups hosting a blood drive in Charleston on Friday.

New Signs, TV Announcements Aimed at Educating South Carolina Drivers

The state of South Carolina has put up new highway signs and is running public service announcements on television to make sure everyone knows about a law that’s been on the book for years. It’s called the “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to move over if possible, or at least slow down, when they come upon an emergency vehicle that’s stopped on the side of the road.
