Boeing’s Job Impact Should In South Carolina Start in Just Weeks
Boeing is planning to have its new 787 Dreamliner production plant running in South Carolina in 2011, but state Commerce Secretary Joe Taylor says the plant will start having an effect on the state’s job situation in a matter of weeks, because Boeing plans to break ground in November. SC Paying Unemployment Benefits to Workers Fired for Misconduct
South Carolina pays unemployment benefits to some workers who are fired from their jobs for everything from drug use to stealing to being late to work. It also pays benefits to some workers who quit their jobs voluntarily. Nearly one quarter of workers filing for unemployment benefits in South Carolina were fired for misconduct. Gov. Sanford Visits Successful School Careers Program, Answers Questions About Unemployment

State E-Mails Detail SC Governor’s Argentina Plans
Newly released e-mails show that South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford pushed for a packed schedule but wanted to keep an evening free on a taxpayer-funded trip to Argentina last year. The e-mails released by the state Commerce Department show the planning that went into the trip, which the married governor has said was the start of his affair with an Argentine woman.

Stimulus Money Not Creating Jobs in SC…Yet
One of the main goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was to save or create 3.5 million jobs nationwide. SC Expands Entry Level Job Training Program
More South Carolina workers can go through government-funded retraining programs to get basic skills needed for entry-level jobs. The South Carolina Department of Commerce said Thursday it is putting $4 million into the state technical college system’s Quick Jobs program. The effort is supported through the federal Workforce Investment Act and the $787 billion federal stimulus law.
