Judge Says No To “I Believe” License Plates; SC Group Says It Will Issue A Version
One of the people who sued to stop the state from issuing the “I Believe” Christian license plate says he has no problem with a private group going through the process to get the DMV to make the plates. A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that the plates were unconstitutional because they were created by the state legislature, which meant the state was endorsing one religion. Now, the Palmetto Family Council has announced plans to have them produced. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.

Ida Dargan McMaster, the mother of South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster, has died at her home. She was 88. Henry McMaster said his mother died in her sleep Saturday night.

Craigslist Withdraws 1 Allegation Against SC Attorney General
Craigslist has withdrawn its request that South Carolina’s attorney general be temporarily prevented from pursuing prostitution-related charges against the company. Attorney General Henry McMaster spokesman Trey Walker said Thursday that Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster abandoned the bid after the prosecutor agreed not to charge executives while a federal lawsuit proceeds.

SC Schools Ask Judge To Nix Governor Sanford’s Stimulus Lawsuit
South Carolina’s school principals and administrators are asking a federal court to toss a lawsuit that Gov. Mark Sanford filed so he could avoid requesting $700 million to spare schools from deep budget cuts. The South Carolina Association of School Administrators asked to become part of that case Tuesday and said the suit should be dropped and the issues handled in the state Supreme Court.

SC Won’t Fight Supreme Court Stimulus Challenge
South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster says a lawsuit brought against the state over federal stimulus money is flawed and premature. But McMaster said in a filing with the Supreme Court on Monday that he won’t oppose the state Supreme Court taking up the challenge filed last week by a Chapin High School student.
