Officers in Aiken are trying to solve their first murder case in nearly two years. Tuesday night, a man was shot to death near downtown Aiken. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the details. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested 20-year-old Freddie L. Simpkins for the murder of Donald McCalla. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, a third suspect, Jeremy Holloway is still wanted in the murder. UPDATE: Jeremy Holloway turned himself into the Aiken Department of Public Safety around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety is seeking Willie Albert Mathis, Jr, 37, for Indecent Exposure. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office also wants Mathis for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender. Update: Willie Mathis has turned himself in at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. Both warrants will be served on him Wednesday.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) officers have some new weapons. ADPS has 14 Tasers for its officers to use. At ADPS, the Taser falls under the same level of use of force as pepper spray. Officers carrying Tasers went through training on how and when to use them…

According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested four individuals for armed robbery. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 27th, at about 12:20 a.m., at 1610 Richland Avenue East, at Greg’s Gas Plus.

There are some unhappy business owners getting parking tickets in downtown Aiken. Aiken Department of Public Safety officers say, they’re passing out tickets, because downtown businesses asked for a time limit on parking. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

UPDATE: Debra Phillips has been arrested and charged in the Saturday robbery of an Econo Lodge in Aiken South Carolina.  Investigators say they are still looking for two other suspects.

Investigators in Aiken County are dealing with a recent spike in bank robberies. Some blame the dip in the economy for the rise in robberies; officers in Aiken aren’t so sure. But, they are working out plans to shut these robbers down, before they get the chance to strike again. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) is seeking information on a theft that occurred at Solid Gold in the Aiken Mall. The suspects have allegedly stolen almost $21,000 worth of merchandise, on two occasions.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, an Aiken man is in jail, charged with several counts of Criminal Sexual conduct. The suspect is identified as 52-year-old Kenneth Lamberth.
