Lawmakers fail to get Augusta Golf & Gardens land for city

Georgia lawmakers wrapped up Friday night without passing a bill that would have dissolved the Augusta Golf and Gardens board, clearing the way to give the land back to the city. City leaders have been lobbying to get the land from the state.  It’s considered very valuable property, right between the Savannah Riverfront and Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta.

Teens and Texting Behind the Wheel: What Do You Think?

Seventeen states and DC have passed cell phone restrictions for teenagers. Now, Georgia lawmakers plan to look at a measure when next year’s session begins that would ban talking or texting except in an emergency. Tell us if you think this is a good idea, in our web poll.
