Aiken Moving Ahead With Odell Weeks Center Security Measures
It’s been two months since a shooting at the Odell Weeks Center in Aiken sparked questions about the facility’s security. Surveillance video from the cameras at the Weeks Center captured a basketball game interrupted by gunfire. A few weeks later, an officer found a gun in student’s book bag. Nielsen: 30.9 Million Watched Michael Jackson Memorial
Just under 31 million people in the United States watched the Michael Jackson memorial on television. Nielsen Media Research says that’s a smaller audience than for Princess Diana’s funeral or President Barack Obama’s inauguration - but it’s still impressive in today’s TV world. Millions more watched video streams on their computers.

Aiken City Council OK’s Odell Weeks Center Security Upgrades
After a shooting, earlier this month…an Aiken County recreation center is looking at security upgrades. Somebody shot a man at the H. Odell Weeks Center, in May. He got hit in the shoulder…but will be okay. This case has put the spotlight on a place that’s known for being safe, a place for people to exercise and play without being worried about crime. So far, there are no suspects in this case…but now that school’s out, more kids will hang out at the center…and some major changes could be in the works.
