Florida Mother Vows To Find Daughter’s Killer

Florida police still have no suspects in the murder of a little girl, but they are making progess in the case of Somer Thompson. Friday, her distraught mother vowed her daughter’s killer will not get away with the crime. ABC News’ Matt Gutman has more in today’s big story.

Searchers Look For Missing GA Woman In North Carolina

Searchers acting on a tip called to the “America’s Most Wanted” television show are looking for a missing north Georgia woman in North Carolina. The woman, 38-year-old Kristi Cornwell of Blairsville, disappeared Aug. 11. Police say she was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her phone.

UPDATED: Search For Missing GA Woman Extends To Tennessee

Authorities searching for a missing north Georgia woman began interviewing 180 sex offenders in nearby Tennessee as the case extended into a seventh day. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead says investigators on the Kristi Cornwell case were talking to sex offenders in counties closest to the Georgia-Tennessee border on Tuesday. Road checks and neighborhood canvassing in Blairsville continued.

There’s new information on the search for the possibility of 2 female bodies on Cherry Street in Augusta. The location is right off of Washington Road behind Longhorn Steakhouse.  The search started Wednesday after a tip from someone who investigators say “wanted to clear their conscience” about something that may have happened some 10 years ago. UPDATED: Investigators Searching For Bodies Behind Off Washington Road

At this time, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is behind Longhorn Steakhouse resturant, on Washington Road, searching for two bodies. Invesitgators got a tip a few days ago that there are two bodies buried on Cherry Street. They believe it’s a homicide. The tipster remains anomymous. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop is following the search and she has the latest. UPDATE: Investigators will be out in full force, on Thursday, to continue the search, with assistance from other agencies as well.

UPDATED: North Augusta Missing Woman Found At Neighbor’s House

According to Lt. Tim Pearson, the North Augusta Department of Public Safety, is asking for assistance from the public in locating a missing woman. Mrs. Arlene King, 75, was last seen walking from her residence at 201 Village Parkway, in North Augusta with her 10-week-old Daschund puppy (brown in color) at 1:40 p.m. Friday afternoon. Update: Mrs. King was found napping at a neighbor’s house a few hours after she was reported missing on Friday.

Police Search Neighborhoods For Murder Suspect In Augusta

Just before midnight, last Friday, investigators say 30-year-old Miguel Hernandez interrupted an armed robbery attempt in the Fox Den apartment complex, and was killed. Wednesday evening, investigators continued their search for the murder suspect. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop was there with investigators, and has the details.

UPDATED: Jackson, SC Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Standoff With Police

Investigators say one bank robbery suspect has been shot and another is still on the loose, in Jackson, SC. Aiken County Sheriff’s Investigators tell WJBF News Channel 6 that shortly before noon, three men robbed the First Citizens Bank, on Atomic Road, in Jackson, SC. Jackson police responded to the robbery and a chase ensued. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe reports that the third suspect sought in the Jackson, SC bank robbery has been arrested after a standoff with police at a house in Beech Island, SC with an AK-47. Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton tells us the suspect who was shot by police near Kimberly-Clark has died. We will add more information on this developing story as it develops.
