Former GOP Vice Presidential candidate, and current Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin will visit Augusta Monday December 1st to campaign for U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss.  Governor Palin will cover several Georgia cities Monday, but Augusta is her first stop at 8:30 a.m.

Saxby Chambliss Fights Subpoena In Imperial Sugar Suit

Sen. Saxby Chambliss is fighting a subpoena by a Savannah attorney who’s suing Imperial Sugar on behalf of victims of the deadly February explosion at its Georgia refinery. Chambliss spokeswoman Michelle Hitt Grasso says federal law and Senate rules make the Republican senator immune from giving a deposition in the case.

Georgia Begins Early Voting For December 2nd Runoff

Early voting is under way in most counties in Georgia. Voters will cast ballots beginning Monday in the runoff for the U.S. Senate race between Republican Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

Huckabee leads Chambliss rally

Chants of “Huck-a-bee” greeted former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee as he led a rally for the “fair tax” in Georgia aimed at helping Sen. Saxby Chambliss in his runoff bid.  Several thousand Georgians crowded into the Gwinnett Center Sunday afternoon for a raucous event that also featured radio talk show host Neal Boortz, one the most vocal boosters of the “fair tax.“

Georgia Senate race undecided

Georgia’s U.S. Senate race could be headed for a runoff.  With thousands of absentee ballots still being counted Wednesday, Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss has fallen below 50 percent mark.  Chambliss needs 50 percent-plus-one of the votes to avoid a runoff. The Associated Press shows him with 49.8 percent of the vote.

Major Georgia Races Still Undecided, Statehouse Incumbents Win

Fifteen hours after the polls closed, there was still no clear winner in Georgia’s U.S. Senate race.  And the fate of the state’s electoral votes for President remain unknown, too.  With a huge turnout of early voters and most of those votes still uncounted, the races for President and U.S. Senate are still too close to call.  But one thing is clear: Republicans retained strong control of the Georgia Legislature.
