Watch Out For Water!  River Floods Parking Lot

Boat owners on the Riverfront Marina woke up to a surprise Monday morning. The “B” dock parking lot is flooded with several inches of water from the Savannah River. Longtime residents say they believe the waters of the river are rising and are backing up into marina’s storm water system, causing the parking lot to flood.

UPDATED: Beech Island Man’s Death Ruled A Homicide

According to Sgt. Dave Myers, a body that SCE&G Beech Island Power Plant employees discovered Wednesday afternoon in the Savannah River, has been identified as 52-year-old Gregory Brabham of Beech Island, S.C. Brabham’s death is being considered a homicide investigation, and is being investigated as such by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. UPDATE: According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, the autopsy of Gregory Brabham has revealed that his death is a homicide. The cause of death will be revealed at a later date, as investigators say releasing the cause of death may hinder the investigation into Brabham’s death.

Body Found In Savannah River In Aiken County

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a body was found floating in the Savannah River near Beech Island, SC around noon on Wednesday. The body has been identified as 52-year-old Gregory Brabham, of Beech Island SC. Carlton says circumstances surrounding the discovery of Brabham’s body appear suspicious. Autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning in Newberry, SC.

UPDATED: Identification Made On Body Found In Augusta

WJBF News Channel 6 has received reports that a body has been found. We have been told that the body has been found on Riverfront Drive, near the boathouse. We have a crew en route, and will have more information as it becomes available. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating this discovery as a homicide.

The 2009 Collegiate Disc Golf National Championships are being held in North Augusta, this weekend. A qualifying round for non-seeded teams began on Thursday. Seeded teams will begin play Friday, April 17th.
