UPDATED: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin To Resign
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she will resign from office July 26. Her spokesman wouldn’t say why Palin decided to step down, but the announcement stirred speculation that she would focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president.

Georgia’s hotly contested U.S. Senate runoff campaign is almost over. Incumbent Saxby Chambliss and challenger, Jim Martin, have been fighting tooth and nail for Chambliss’ seat. Both candidates were in the Garden City this morning, trying to drum up support in the campaign’s final hours. Senator Chambliss brought a political heavy hitter with him. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin attended a Chambliss rally at the James Brown Arena, and Jim Martin atended a rally at Augusta’s Democratic headquarters. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker has the story.

As Governor, Palin At Times Bonds Church And State
The camera closes in on Sarah Palin speaking to young missionaries, vowing from the pulpit to do her part to implement God’s will from the governor’s office. What she didn’t tell worshippers gathered at the Wasilla Assembly of God church in her hometown was that her appearance that day came courtesy of Alaskan taxpayers, who picked up the $639.50 tab for her airplane tickets and per diem fees.
Political Repercussions Of Palin Investigation Unknown
It’s unclear what impact the so-called troopergate investigation in Alaska may have on the presidential election. A report from a state legislative committee says Governor Sarah Palin violated Alaska’s ethics laws and abused her power by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper. But the committee has no authority to sanction Palin, and is not recommending a criminal investigation.

A bi-partisan legislative panel’s chief investigator says Alaska Governor Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper. The investigator found Palin in violation of a state ethics law prohibiting public officials from using their office for personal gain.
