Georgia Lawmaker Wants To Look At Sales Tax
A prominent Georgia Republican says it may be time to reconsider the state’s sales tax structure. State Sen. Jack Hill, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said Thursday the Georgia’s sluggish sales tax receipts suggest that the state’s system does not reflect how residents spend their money. He said the timing is right for a commission to give it a look.

Regency Mall Could See Sales Tax Money
It’s an eyesore right in the heart of Augusta. Regency Mall has been basically abandoned for the last six years, but it could be on the city’s next list of sales tax projects. But, the money would not be used to build it up, rather to tear it down. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola reports.

Augusta Airport Hopes To Build It For Jobs To Come
It’s another entity in line for funding in the next phase of city sales tax. Augusta Regional Airport is requesting money for infrastructure. The hope is if the project takes off jobs will land.

Sales Tax Proposed For Richmond County Patrol Cars
In Augusta, it’s never been done before…using sales tax funds to pay for Richmond County Sheriff’s Office cars. A large part of the current fleet needs to be upgraded and officials are looking to the sales tax because it is not always cheaper to keeper.

South Carolina To Have Tax Free Holiday For Gun Sales
Most people are probably unaware of it, but on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, handguns, rifles and shotguns will be sales tax free in South Carolina. State lawmakers passed a bill in June that includes the sales tax holiday on firearms. They called it the Second Amendment Recognition Act.
