X-Mart Coming To A Neighborhood Near You?
A mediation session between lawyers for the adult video store X-Mart and the city has been cancelled. Augusta has been able to keep the store from operating on Gordon Highway for the better part of seven years, but this doesn’t mean the X-Mart could not open its doors in a different location. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

Railroad Crossing Closed On Eisenhower Drive Monday-Wednesday
The CSX Railroad crossing on Eisenhower Drive will be closed, beginning Monday, Oct. 26th through Wednesday, Oct. 28th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

UPDATED: Family Of Local Businessman Jay Weinberger Issue Statement
Friends and family members are mourning the loss of a well-known Augusta businessman. Jay Weinberger, known for his family furniture business, was found dead early this morning, in Putnam county, Georgia. The Sheriff there says it’s unlike any case he’s seen in his 36 years of law enforcement.

Augusta Leaders Recommend Going Out On Bonds For Augusta Priority S.P.L.O.S.T. Projects
They are the priority projects for the next phase of the special purpose local option sales tax, or S.P.L.O.S.T. Voters approved continuing the tax in june, but the city will not start collecting the money until fall of 2010. To avoid waiting, city leaders are recommending going out on bonds for some of the top priority projects.

According to Mark Bowen, Chief Deputy Richmond County Coroner, a body found under the Riverwatch Parkway bridge, near 15th Street, has been identified.

Bass Pro Shops Back Before Commission
Augusta landed a big fish in April…Bass Pro Shops announced it was locating a store on Riverwatch Parkway. The economy has slowed things, but officials say it’s still on the line with a financing plan heading to Commissioners on Thursday.
