UPDATED: Suspect Dead After Police-Involved Shooting In Augusta
Authorities in Richmond County are investigating a deadly shooting. UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Michael Nestor. A press conference ened just before noon on Wednesday at the Richmond County Law Enforcement Center. Sheriff Ronnie Strength talked about the deadly shooting Tuesday night, involving several officers. WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud reports.

UPDATED: Man Shot, Killed By Deputies In Augusta
The GBI is investigating after a shooting in downtown Augusta following a domestic dispute. Terry Ramsey, 41, was shot and killed by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies during a domestic situation on Metcalf Street, in downtown Augusta. UPDATE: The two deputies involved in the shooting have been identified as Deputy Chadwick Plueger and Deputy Sylvester Rosier.

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a flood watch for portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina.
Richmond County Tax Commissioner Looks At Losing Tax Money To Make It
Tax Commissioner Steven Kendrick has a plan to try and get something from nothing. Augusta has nearly 300 properties that cannot be sold at tax sales, but Kendrick would like to get these properties back on the auction block, even if the city takes a loss. According to Investigator Charles Mulherin, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators are currently seeing a sex offender who has recently absconded supervision of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. The subject is identified as 33-year-old Rico Renaldo Ready.

UPDATED: Second Suspect Arrested In Richmond County Home Invasion
According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a home invasion suspect. Ahijah Murray, 19, has been charged with one count each of Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Burglary and Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle. Murray is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail. UPDATE: Jonathan Cornelius Glenn, 28, was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the home invasion.

Guilty Plea Ends Augusta Murder Trial
An Augusta man waived his right to a jury trial, pleaded guilty to a murder charge and was sentenced to life in prison. Richmond County District Attorney Ashley Wright says Antonio Jones, who was on trial for the murder of 23-year-old Eladio Gonzalez, entered the plea in exchange for the state not seeking the death penalty.
More Than 60 Tax-Exempt Gas Violators Found In 5 Hours
For the past several days, the Georgia Department of Revenue teamed up with local agencies, all over Georgia, setting up checkpoints, looking for people illegally using tax-exempt gas. But, as WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop found out, these agencies found a lot more than they bargained for.

Richmond County Senior Citizens Not Looking Forward To Tax Increase
Many Augusta senior citizens are on fixed incomes, and this year their tax bills went up from $240 to $290 because the state cut property tax relief grants. Now they’re looking at another $40 to $50 tax hike next year, and it’s something they are not looking forward to.
