Some major progress is being made in Augusta, when it comes to revitalizing run down neighborhoods. Thursday, a big celebration was going on in the Laney Walker community. Officials revealed the first model home, of what they say the rest of the Laney Walker community will look like, in the near future. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has more.

It’s a fight over a possible $50 million. As we first told you Monday, some Augusta leaders want to apply for a $50 million stimulus grant to renovate neighborhoods like Harrisburg.

Augusta is planning a major redevelopment of the city’s historic inner city neighborhoods. Along with the new trade center, the revitalization project will use money from a dollar a night hotel room fee as a source of funding.
