Three sea turtles treated at a South Carolina center have returned to the ocean. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that more than 500 people gathered on the beach Sunday at Kiawah Island to watch the turtles return to the ocean.

US Official: Rescued Captain Expected Home Friday

A U.S. official says a homecoming is planned Friday for the rescued American captain of a ship pirated off the Somali coast. The USS Bainbridge warship, which rescued Maersk Alabama captain Richard Phillips, arrived Thursday at the Kenyan port of Mombasa.

President Obama Twice Approved Force To Rescue Pirates’ Hostage

President Barack Obama says he shares the country’s admiration for the bravery of sea captain Richard Phillips. Phillips was freed after spending five days adrift in a lifeboat off the Horn of Africa, when Navy snipers picked off all three pirates holding him hostage. A fourth pirate was on board the nearby U.S.S. Bainbridge for discussions when the rescue took place.

A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River, in New York. The flight, US Airways 1559, was an A-320 manufactured by airbus was carrying 164 passengers and 5 crew. The plane was en route New York to Charlotte. According to local airline representatives, there were no passengers on that plane coming to the Augusta area.
