New Report Ranks SC Near Bottom In Graduation Rate

A new report by the Southern Regional Education Board says half of South Carolina high schools are “dropout factories” and the state ranks at or near the bottom of the nation when it comes to on-time graduation rates. But state education superintendent Dr. Jim Rex says the numbers are wrong. WJBF News Channel 6’s Robert Kittle has more.

Hearing Held At S.C. Supreme Court Over Governor Sanford’s Ethics Investigation

Governor Mark Sanford went to the South Carolina Supreme Court Monday…trying to block the South Carolina Ethics Commission from giving its report on him to the South Carolina House of Representatives. He says that investigative report will not have his side, and the House is likely to use it to impeach him. Report: SC Consumers Paying Too Much For Insurance

‘The State’ newpaper reported Wednesday that the Legislative Audit Council report says the Department of Insurance needs to do a better job of documenting reasons for approving rate increases. The report also says many of the files reviewed were missing paperwork needed to prove why the increases were necessary.

Vehicle thefts may be down nationwide, according to preliminary figures from the FBI, but that’s not the case in most South Carolina cities.
