Aiken Public Safety Officers need your help to find a man they say tried to rape his co-worker.

According to Investigator Charles Mulherin, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) is looking for an absconded sex offender. While on a surprise address verification, investigators with the RCSO Sex Offender Unit learned that Anthony Eugene Crawford had absconded.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking 42-year-old Melvin Germany on charges of Kidnapping, Rape, and Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle. The aforementioned charges are related to domestic violence which involves a former live-in girlfriend. All incidents occurred on or between the dates of September 17th and September 21st. UPDATE: Germany was located and arrested thursday morning, in Augusta.

A registered sex offender was arrested after exposing himself to a Butler High School student, early Friday morning. Parents are outraged, because by law, the man accused, should have never been around the school to begin with. On Thursday morning, Robert Lee Benefield, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail on the charge of Public Indecency. Benefield is accused of following a Butler High School student in a vehicle, as she walked to school. While following the victim, Benefield is accused of exposing his genitals and masturbating.

Edgefield County investigators say littering led to the arrest of a man wanted for rape. Investigators say 20-year-old Douglas Carter was seen dumping trash at an abandoned home.

The incident occurred on the 1500 block of Holley Street. UPDATE: Marion was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday night.

A Tennessee man has been sentenced to death for raping and strangling a South Carolina college student with her own bikini top. The sentence came hours after Jerry Buck Inman asked to be put to death for the crime because he was too violent to be rehabilitated in prison.
