Heavy Rains Spell Trouble for Rural Roads
It’s a river flowing through Lake Jean Drive, and this rural road is not alone. Heavy rains, nearly 7 inches in some parts, in just 24 hours, are making for a messy, drizzly day after. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker reports.

Flood Watch Issued Through Wednesday Evening
The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a flood watch for portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina.
Erosion Problems Has Augusta Homeowner Fearing The Worst
The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida have been hitting the CSRA all day Tuesday, causing pretty bad flooding in some areas. One Augusta homeowner tells us every time it rains it pours for her…and her backyard is proof. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has more.
Weather Cancellations
WJBF News Channel 6 has received word that some events scheduled for Tuesday night and Wednesday have been cancelled due to the rainy weather we are experiencing.
Flash Flooding A Possibility In The CSRA On Tuesday
According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Ida will likely produce flooding in the north and central, and potentially a few brief weak tornadoes in the extreme southwest and south central.

Avoid Atlanta! Floodwaters Claim 8 Lives; State Of Emergency Declared
Docile creeks turned into surging rivers and rivers into raging floodwaters as storms raking the Southeast for days dropped up to 20 inches of rain. At least six people are reported dead. Floodwaters ripped apart a trailer home in Carroll County, drowning a 2-year-old boy who was swept from his father’s arms. In Atlanta, stranded motorists scrambled to the tops of their car as waters rose on one of the city’s busiest highways.

Authorities are searching for a toddler swept away in a rain-swollen creek in west Georgia as heavy rains and thunderstorms claimed at least 2 other lives in the Southeast.

Columbia County Faces Flooding Issues
They may be dried out from the weekend, but with more rain in the forecast this week, people are bracing for more problems in Columbia County. We heard from frustrated neighbors over the weekend; Monday, we hear from the county. Most Of SE Georgia Blueberry Crop Is A Washout
Southeast Georgia’s blueberry crop has taken a double jolt from the weather, ruining most of the crop. The University of Georgia Agriculture Extension Service agents say colder-than-normal weather decimated high-bush blueberries early in the season and heavy rains over the past several weeks have ruined much of the rabbit-eye berries now in the field.

All Of SC Out Of Drought For First Time Since 2006
State officials say all of South Carolina is out of the grips of the drought for the first time in nearly three years. The state Drought Response Committee removed 19 northern counties from any stage of drought Wednesday, marking the first time since August 2006 that any part of South Carolina wasn’t abnormally dry.

Inch Of Rain Doesn’t Extinguish SC Wildfire
Firefighters continuing to watch the nearly 20,000 acres burned in a wildfire near the South Carolina coast last month say an inch of rain wasn’t enough to extinguish the flames.
