Racist Graffiti Found In Aiken County Subdivision
An Aiken County developer discovered what he calls “racist graffiti” on a stop sign in this subdivision, Wednesday morning. The letters KKK were spray painted on the sign in the Herndon Pointe Subdivision, off of Silver Bluff Road, in Aiken.

White House: Criticism Of President Obama Not Based On Race
The White House says President Barack Obama doesn’t believe he’s being criticized because of his race. Spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Obama - the nation’s first black president - doesn’t think that criticism of his policies is “based on the color of his skin.“

NAACP To Use Latest Technology To Fight Racism
The NAACP may be 100 years old, but it’s using the latest technology to fight racism. The NAACP will officially launch the program to monitor incidents of police misconduct at its annual convention in New York City. Members are gathering there to mark NAACP’s centennial; The civil rights group was founded in New York City in 1909.

Congress Asked To Investigate Racism In Military
One of the country’s main monitors of hate groups is asking Congress to investigate possible racial extremism in the military, after finding service members on a social networking Web site advertised as being for whites only.

UPDATED: Former SC Election Leader Apologizes For Gorilla Comment About First Lady
A former South Carolina election official has apologized for his Internet posting that compared a gorilla to an ancestor of first lady Michelle Obama. Former state Election Commission Chairman Rusty DePass read a statement during an NAACP news conference in Columbia Wednesday saying his comments were offensive and foolish. Alleged Noose Incident At Local Factory Spurs Rally
It was an eyebrow-raising rally in Augusta Tuesday night at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Organizers say the purpose was to discuss an alleged noose incident at the John Deere plant in Grovetown. Although the alleged incident took place during the summer the case surfaced again because of some other current racial accusations.
