USC Aiken head men’s basketball coach Vince Alexander announced on Wednesday that former Winthrop guard Byron Faison is transferring from the NCAA Division I Big South institution to play for the Pacers.

Fourth-ranked USC Aiken moved up two spots in Tuesday’s final round to finish the 54-hole 2009 Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the par 72, 6939-yard Little River Golf Club in fourth place as a team.

Fifth-seeded Lander upset No. 3 seed USC Aiken 64-53 Sunday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Women’s Championship game in the USCA Convocation Center.

In a Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game that more than lived up to its pre-game billing, the fifth-ranked Augusta State Jaguars won a thrilling 65-64 victory over 17th-ranked USC Aiken on Sunday at The Convocation Center.
