Aiken County Most Wanted List—August 27, 2009
According to Capt. Troy Elwell, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking 10 individuals wanted for Family Court Bench Warrants all the individuals are at least $25,000 behind in child support.

Senate Passes Credit Card Bill
The Senate has voted to prohibit credit card companies from arbitrarily raising an individual’s interest rate and charging many of the exorbitant fees. The vote was 90-5. With the House on track to endorse the measure by week’s end, President Barack Obama could see a bill on his desk by the end of the week.

Economy Could be Affecting SC Child Support Payments
The economy and South Carolina’s high unemployment rate appear to be affecting child support payments in the state. Larry McKeown, child support enforcement director for the state Department of Social Services, says, “I can’t specifically attribute it to the economy, but we have seen a decrease of about a little over two percent in collections, when comparing January of ‘09 to January of ‘08.“ WJBF News Channel 6’s Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.
