UPDATED: Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Car Crashes, Burns

According to EdgefieldDaily.com, an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responding to a call of a wreck on Republican Road lost control of his patrol car, hit an embankment, and reportedly was ejected from the car as it burst into flames. An ambulance responding to the first wreck happened upon the deputy lying on the side of the road and began treating him for his injuries. UPDATE: The deputy has now been released from MCG and is resting at home.

South Carolina Using Mobile Cameras to Find Stolen Cars, Criminals

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is the first in the state to begin using a new technology to find stolen cars and stolen license tags. It’s a camera and computer system called the Mobile Plate Hunter 900, which uses two cameras mounted on the patrol car and a laptop computer inside. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.
