Christmas is coming early this year for some South Carolina children. Monday is the first full day of events for deaf and hard-of-hearing campers attending Camp Wonder Hands.

Organizers hoping to prevent sudden infant death syndrome are giving away free advice and cribs to South Carolina families. On Wednesday, Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital is hosting a “Cribs for Kids of the Midlands” event at the hospital’s atrium. Families from a 16-county area can get one-on-one information about safe ways for babies to sleep as well as a free crib.

Hazardous toys are still on store shelves across the country, even though there’s a new law that overhauled the nation’s product safety watchdog agency. That’s according to the 23rd annual toy safety survey, “Trouble in Toyland”, released Tuesday by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG).
