Columbia County Mother, Son Indicted On Murder, Robbery Charges
A mother and her 20-year-old son have been indicted on charges they robbed and killed a next door neighbor. A Columbia County grand jury indicted 41-year-old Rebecca Sears and her son, Christopher Bowers, in the March 25 death of 41-year-old Laverne “Kay” Parsons.

Columbia County Murder Suspects Face Judge
Defendants Becky Sears, and her son, Christopher Bowers, had their “First Appearance” hearing via video hookup, from the Columbia County Jail. Both are charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the beating death of Kay Parsons. Parsons was beaten in her Orchard Hills subdivision home, Wednesday. She died a day later. Columbia County Woman Dies After Being Attacked During Home Burglary
A Columbia County woman, beaten in her home, has died. Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Laverne Parsons was beaten Wednesday after she walked in on a burglary in her home. She died Thursday at the Medical College of Georgia. Her death is the first murder in Columbia County, this year. WJBF News Channel 6’s Renita Crawford has more.

Woman Beaten After House Broken Into In Columbia County
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a break-in suspect who attacked a woman in her home after she returned from taking her kids to school. The break-in and attack occurred in the Orchard Hill subdivision, off of Columbia Road, on Hot Springs Court, around 9:00 a.m., Wednesday morning.
