Bedden Officially Accepts Job as Irving, TX Superintendent

Richmond County School Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden officially accepted the job as Superintendent of the Irving, Texas school district Friday night.  Below is a statement released by Dr. Bedden:

SC Governor Mark Sanford’s Ethics Hearing Won’t Be Until May At Earliest

The State Ethics Commission won’t hear the 37 ethics charges against Gov. Mark Sanford until May at the earliest, according to executive director Herb Hayden. After the charges were announced last November, numerous media reports said the South Carolina Ethics Commission would hear the case in January. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.

Three People Arrested In Warrenville On Drug Charges

According to Sgt. Dave Myers, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Narcotics investigators, based on an anonymous complaint, have arrested three people in Warrenville, South Carolina on drug charges. The people charged are Jerry Lee Pitts, 18, of 55 Harrison Road, in Warrenville; Tammy Powell Bishop, 37, of 55 Harrison Road, in Warrenville; and Julia Johnson, 22, of 2273 Augusta Road, in Gloverville.

Babysitter Charged After Child Burned In Hot Bath

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators say a two-year old is being treated for third-degree burns after his babysitter put him in a hot bath. Stephanie Adams is charged with child cruelty. Officers say she was taking care of Demontrez Clark while his mother was in class, Thursday night.
