Gunman Robs North Augusta Convenience Store

According to Lt. Michael Franks, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night at Quickie Jacks, 829 Edgefield Road, in North Augusta.

Heavy rain causes flooding in CSRA

Heavy rains have produced some flooding in places around the C.S.R.A. There are reports of flooded basements in some downtown Augusta buildings. And some neighborhoods in Columbia and Aiken counties are also reporting flooding in streets and yards.

Fire fighters battle North Augusta blaze

Fire fighters battled a major house fire in North Augusta this morning.  The blaze broke out inside a house in the 1800 block of Oriole Avenue just before 9:00 Friday morning. Firefighters called for mutual aid from neighboring fire departments for help in fighting the fire.

The rosters for the 2008 SCADA North-South All-Star game were
released Wednesday. The rosters included eight players from CSRA schools.

Cutting Lines at S.C. DMV Offices

South Carolina lawmakers are once again trying to cut the budget, and to do that, they’re looking at cutting lines at the DMV. It’s still in the works, but soon there may be no more Saturday hours at South Carolina DMV’s. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

Man Molested By Former North Augusta Planning Commission Chairman Speaks Out

A former Aiken County school administrator was arrested Tuesday, on sex crime charges dating back to the 1970’s. A man who says he was molested by Stephen Coke Eubanks, 67, spoke to us Tuesday about another case involving a convicted child molester from the same time period. He is considering bringing a lawsuit against the former North Augusta Planning Commission chairman, Edward Meloan. Meloan was convicted, last October, of molesting Greg Lass, and others, when they were boys back in the 70’s.

North Augusta Man Arrested In Brother’s Murder

According to Lt. Tim Pearson, of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety (NADPS), at 7:04 p.m., Monday, September 22nd, NADPS officers responded to 211 East Buena Vista Avenue, in North Augusta, regarding a possible death. Upon arrival, officers found David P. Hett unresponsive. Aiken County EMS and Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, at which time the victim was pronounced dead.

North Augusta Country Club Vandalized Again

There was more vandalism at a North Augusta Country Club Thursday night. Investigators say vandals damaged several tees, again. They suspect the same vandals damaged mail boxes in a nearby neighborhood.
