The Minnesota Vikings have signed fifth-round draft pick Jasper Brinkley. Brinkley is a linebacker from South Carolina. He received second-team All-SEC honors last year after recording 65 tackles with the Gamecocks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed on Tuesday.

The University of Georgia added three more in Sunday’s final day of the annual NFL draft giving the Bulldogs six total players selected by professional teams. 

The Green Bay Packers selected former Lincoln County Red Devil Jarius Wynn with the ninth pick of the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Former Laney star Corvey Irvin, former Thomson star Jasper Brinkley and former Lincoln Co. star Jarius Wynn were selected Sunday on the second day of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Former Laney Star Corvey Irvin was taken by the Carolina Panthers with the 29th pick of the third round of the NFL Draft Sunday, 93rd overall. 

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions agreed on a six-year deal Friday night, a person familiar with talks told The Associated Press.
