A former NFL football player with ties to Augusta is facing federal charges. A federal grand jury has returned a 22-count indictment against Arthur Marshall. Marshall is charged with fraud and money laundering in his real estate ventures. He is also accused of defrauding three banks in obtaining loans for seven different properties in Columbia and Richmond Counties.

Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants was led out of a police precinct in handcuffs Monday after surrendering on a weapons possession charge. Authorities said that teammate Antonio Pierce is being investigated over his role in the accidental shooting at a Manhattan nightclub last Friday night in which Burress was injured.

Current New York Giants and former University of Georgia running back Danny Ware has been arrested on a charge of pedestrian under the influence and pedestrian walking in the road. Ware, in his second season with the Giants, was booked at the Clarke County Jail at 5:24 a.m. on Sunday and released four hours later on $500 bond.
