Florida’s Brandon Spikes Suspended For Gouging Eyes During UGA Game

Florida coach Urban Meyer has suspended Brandon Spikes for the first half of Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt after the star linebacker attempted to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey in a 41-17 victory. Meyer says Spikes was retaliating after getting his eye poked earlier in the game.

Clemson star C.J. Spiller has run his way back into the Heisman Trophy race. Spiller gained 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Wake Forest, then followed that with a school-record 310 all-purpose yards in Clemson’s 40-37 overtime victory against Miami last week.

Clemson tight end Michael Palmer says he’s feeling good but is not sure he’ll play Saturday against Coastal Carolina. Palmer spoke Tuesday, three days after his concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit that left him on the field in Clemson’s 40-37 overtime win at Miami.
