October 20th Execution Set For Convicted Augusta Murderer

The Georgia Department of Corrections has set Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. for the execution of a convicted Richmond County murderer. A warrant signed Thursday by a judge permits the state to execute 43-year-old Mark McClain at any time between noon Oct. 20 and noon Oct. 27 at the state prison in Jackson.

We have the latest on the Yale University murder investigation. A lab technician made his first court appearance Thursday on the charge he murdered Yale graduate student Annie Le. Raymond Clark III was a co-worker of Le, whose body was found Sunday stuffed behind a wall in the building where they both worked. It was supposed to be her wedding day. Officials revealed Wednesday that Le had been choked to death. ABC News’ Aaron Katersky is in New Haven, Connecticut with more.

UPDATED: Second Suspect Arrested In Aiken Murder

Officers in Aiken are trying to solve their first murder case in nearly two years. Tuesday night, a man was shot to death near downtown Aiken. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the details. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested 20-year-old Freddie L. Simpkins for the murder of Donald McCalla. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, a third suspect, Jeremy Holloway is still wanted in the murder. UPDATE: Jeremy Holloway turned himself into the Aiken Department of Public Safety around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
