Augusta Mayor Appears In “The Blind Side”
An Augusta native is playing the lead role in what is being called one of the top ten movies of the year. The Blind Side opens Friday night, starring Glenn Hills graduate, Quinton Aaron, as Michael Oher…a homeless teen adopted by a suburban family who earns a college scholarship and is now a rookie with the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. Quinton played one year of football at Glenn Hills before graduating in ‘03, but he mostly sang in the choir and now he’s got his first major starring role alongside Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw. And, Quinton is not the only familiar face you will see in the film…Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver plays an assistant coach to former South Carolina coach, Lou Holtz. He spent a day in June filming his big scene…Barclay Bishop talked to him about how and why he went Hollywood.

Augusta’s Mayor is going to be hitting the big screen Friday. Mayor Deke Copenhaver plays assistant coach to Lou Holtz in the new movie, ‘The Blind Side.‘ the movie’s star, Quinton Aaron, is also a Glenn Hills High School graduate.

The local man arrested near the set of Miley Cyrus’ latest movie will not face felony charges. The grand jury in Chatham County returned a “no bill” after attorneys presented their case against Mark McLeod. The “no bill” shows there is insufficient evidence for felony charges. Click for release:

New Michael Jackson Single Debuts Online
Michael Jackson returned to the airwaves Monday with a new song - the first from an upcoming musical documentary featuring the troubled superstar. It is the first new material by Jackson to be released since his sudden death in Los Angeles on June 25.

A Georgia judge has transferred the misdemeanor case of a 53-year-old man accused of trying to stalk Miley Cyrus to a court that handles felony cases, indicating prosecutors are looking at stiffer charges. Mark McLeod’s attorney, James Byrne, said Friday prosecutors are trying to keep his client in jail without evidence that he’s dangerous.

Mark McLeod is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon. He’s being held at the Chatham County jail on misdemeanor charges of attempted stalking, disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer.

A 53-year-old man who told police he’s secretly engaged to marry Miley Cyrus has been charged with attempting to stalk the teenage “Hannah Montana” star, who’s filming a movie in the Savannah area. Police say he returned to the beachside movie set on Sunday, days after he’d been warned to stay away. UPDATE: Tybee Island officials came to Columbia County on Wednesday afternoon to pick McLeod up and transport him back to Savannah.
