UPDATED: Former SC Election Leader Apologizes For Gorilla Comment About First Lady
A former South Carolina election official has apologized for his Internet posting that compared a gorilla to an ancestor of first lady Michelle Obama. Former state Election Commission Chairman Rusty DePass read a statement during an NAACP news conference in Columbia Wednesday saying his comments were offensive and foolish. The First Family celebrated Easter by attending service in Washington. Dressed to the nines, the Obamas made their way to Saint John’s Episcopal Church. They will also get their new “First Dog”, a Portuguese Water Dog, on Tuesday. They plan to name the dog “Bo”.
