Aiken County School Board To Offer H1N1 Vaccine To Students
According to our news partner, ‘The Aiken Standard’, the Aiken County Board of Education voted, unanimously, Tuesday night to offer H1N1 (swine flu) vaccines to all students. The vaccine would be offered through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), after the vaccine is received.

Richmond County BOE Looks At Saggy Pants Policy At School Events
The pants get pulled up, or you get kicked out. Tuesday night, a new policy was discussed at the Richmond County Board of Education Committee meeting. Graniteville Water Meeting To Be Held Wednesday Night
It’s another chance for people living in Graniteville to have their voices heard on those new water rates. The South Carolina Public Service Commission is holding a public meeting on the rates. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m.
U.S. DOT Holds Summit On Dangers Of Texting While Driving
The government is now trying to get the word out that any cell phone use while behind the wheel can be extremly dangerous. In Washington, the Transportation Department is so worried about drivers who don’t keep their minds on driving, that they’re holding a summit meeting about it. Distracted Drivers reportedly cause thousands of traffic deaths a year. ABC News’ T.J. Winick has more.

SC NAACP Meeting In NC To Continue Flag Boycott
The South Carolina NAACP has chosen Charlotte, North Carolina, for its annual meeting, continuing the boycott of the Palmetto state because of the Confederate flag at the Statehouse in Columbia. The Herald of Rock Hill reported that NAACP officials announced Monday that Charlotte had been selected for the October 8th to the 11th meeting.

Goshen Anger Real, But Fears May Not Be
Residents in Goshen speak out against a plan to bring $21 million in stimulus money to their neighborhood. They fear it will bring with it low income housing because HUD money is involved, but one former HUD official says just because the department is involved doesn’t mean strings are attached. Goshen Residents Meet Again With Augusta Leaders About Stimulus Money
There’s a lot of concern over one Augusta neighborhood. Those who live in the Goshen area say they don’t want federal money…because that would mean low-income housing, but the federal dollars could mean big improements for another neighborhood. Legal Bills Bother Augusta Commissioners
Augusta Commissioners are bothered by the legal bills. Commissioners are being asked to beef up the budget for the city law department. The department needs $600,000 more to cover the costs of hiring outside attorneys to handle the city case load.

Aiken City Council OK’s Odell Weeks Center Security Upgrades
After a shooting, earlier this month…an Aiken County recreation center is looking at security upgrades. Somebody shot a man at the H. Odell Weeks Center, in May. He got hit in the shoulder…but will be okay. This case has put the spotlight on a place that’s known for being safe, a place for people to exercise and play without being worried about crime. So far, there are no suspects in this case…but now that school’s out, more kids will hang out at the center…and some major changes could be in the works. Augusta Commissioner To Get House In Order
Augusta Commissioner Betty Beard is taking a beating over the condition of a house she rents in the inner city. It’s been cited for code violations. Beard says she will be taking action to correct the situation, but even with this housing problem swirling, she is trying to take action on another housing issue that has city leaders deeply divided. Commissioners No Show On TEE Center Meeting

TEE Center Meeting Cancelled
It was supposed to be a chance to re-energize discussion about the proposed Trade, Exhibit and Events (or TEE) Center. The multi-million dollar venture has been taking hits from some Augusta, Georgia Commissioners, as of late. A special called meeting was planned for Thursday, but some Commissioners argued they couldn’t be there because of previous engagements or appointments.
