Medical Equipment Company Bringing Jobs To McDuffie County
A company that produces and sells medical equipment is getting ready to open up in Thomson. Reliant Medical is based out of Florida. Company officials have built a warehouse at the Thomson Industrial Park. Workers at the warehouse will build refurbished MRI equipment for doctors and hospitals.
UPDATED: Woman’s Body Found In Thomson, Georgia
A woman’s body has been found in Thomson, Georgia at the intersection of White Oak Road and Lincoln Drive. That’s in McDuffie County. Someone walking to work spotted the body, Wednesday morning, and called the GBI and McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office. The body, which was found in a ditch, is identified as Vicki Lynn Gunby. UPDATE: At this time, investigators do not believe Gunby died as a result of foul play.

McDuffie County Schools Confirm Three Cases Of Swine Flu
McDuffie County Schools have 3 confirmed cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) among their student population. Officials say the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the McDuffie County Board of Health and local physicians are working together to ensure the safest measures are followed for all citizens.

McDuffie County Gets New School Superintendent
McDuffie County has a new school superintendent. The McDuffie County Board Of Education voted to hire Jim Lebrun, who had been serving as the superintendent of Jones County Schools, in Georgia.

UPDATED: Popular McDuffie County Restaurant Destroyed by Fire, Ruled Accidental
One of McDduffie County’s most popular restaurants was severely damaged by fire. Our news partner, “The McDuffie Mirror” shares this report with WJBF News Channel 6. It’s the Raysville Bait and Tackle and Bob’s Cafe on Lincolnton Highway. According to Donna Branch, News Director for WTHO-FM, the fire has been ruled accidental.

Heavy Damage in Thomson From Friday Night’s Storms
In Thomson, along Moose Club Road, more damage reported. Neighbors were out helping this family, earlier Saturday. A tree fell on their car and part of their house. Although many of their belongings were destroyed, they say they’ll be able to pick up and move on.

UPDATE: Thomson Man Arrested, Linked to Dead Dogs
A Thomson man says his dogs died of Parvo, and were not abused. A local bottle hunter found them stuffed in shopping carts behind Wal-Mart, earlier this month. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker reports.

Alleged Sexual Assault Committed By A McDuffie County Employee
According to Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Special Agent in Charge Gary Nicholson, the GBI Region 7 Office is currently conducting an investigation involving an alleged sexual assault committed by a McDuffie County Employee, on Friday March 6th, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 pm, in McDuffie County.
