The race for the next mayor of Atlanta is headed for a runoff after no candidate in a crowded field received a majority of the vote.

In South Carolina, voting continues with an Aiken County Council seat up for grabs in North Augusta, and a mayoral race that got heated at the polls Tuesday.  Incumbent mayor C.H. Williams won re-election with all precincts accounted for.  WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe takes a look at election day in Aiken County.

The New York City Council has approved changes in the term-limits law that will allow Mayor Michael Bloomberg to seek re-election next year. The council passed the bill Thursday by a vote of 29-22. The bill gives city officeholders the option of three consecutive four-year terms.
