Historic Augusta Neighborhood: Will They Come if They Rebuild It?
Augusta is planning a major redevelopment of the city’s historic inner city neighborhoods. Along with the new trade center, the revitalization project will use money from a dollar a night hotel room fee as a source of funding. Parking Deck Could No Longer Be TEE Center Hang Up
The TEE Center is going back before Augusta city leaders, on Tuesday, as Commissioners look at new recommendations to get the stalled trade center moving again. One potential problem has been the City Administrator’s recommendation for a $17 million parking deck for the TEE Center project, but that deck is no longer considered the only solution for the center’s parking needs. Augusta Commissioner To Get House In Order
Augusta Commissioner Betty Beard is taking a beating over the condition of a house she rents in the inner city. It’s been cited for code violations. Beard says she will be taking action to correct the situation, but even with this housing problem swirling, she is trying to take action on another housing issue that has city leaders deeply divided.
