New Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice To Take Post
Carol Hunstein is set to become Georgia’s new top judge. The former DeKalb County Superior Court judge will be sworn in Wednesday by former Gov. Zell Miller, who tapped her in 1992 to become the second woman to serve on Georgia’s Supreme Court. Current Gov. Sonny Perdue also plans to attend.

President Obama: David Souter’s Successor Should Be Seated By October
President Barack Obama says he will nominate an individual who is “dedicated to the rule of law” to replace retiring Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court. The president interrupted his press secretary’s regular White House briefing to tell reporters he had just spoken by phone with Souter. Obama said he told Souter he was “incredibly grateful for his dedicated service.“
