Hundreds of those unemployed across the CSRA took part in a job fair hosted by Congressman John Barrow Thursday. A handful of local and regional businesses were on hand hoping to offer a position to those in need. Count on our Fraendy Clervaud. He has the story.

Are you looking for a job?  Thursday at the Henry Brigham Community Center at 2463 Golden Camp Road Congressman John Barrow is hosting a job fair.  Local businesses and employers will be there from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

As thousands of jobs are eliminated in Georgia and South Carolina, many of those unemployed workers lined up at the James Brown Arena Monday for a chance at new jobs. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has more.

There’s new information on the next SRS job fair, scheduled for noon on Monday, July 20th. The job fair was going to be at Paine College, but it has now been moved to the James Brown Arena.

Tuesday, the Savannah River Site (SRS) held its third of four job fairs, at Aiken Technical College. They saw more than 3,000 applicants come in for orientation and employment opportunities.

South Carolina has some good news when it comes to jobs. Today, one of the state’s largest employers visited one of the highest unemployment areas….looking to hire. News Channel Six’s Joy Howe has more. 

Remember that big Savannah River Site job fair in Columbia? Now there’s one coming to a town near you. There are hundreds of new jobs added because of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The first job fair is June 17th in Barnwell at the Primary School, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., in the afternoon. The second is June 24th at USC-Salkehatchie in Allendale, SC…also from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.  Both events will be preceded with a town hall meeting at noon.

South Carolina’s annual Teacher Expo to match teachers with school districts that have job openings looked a lot different this year. There were a lot more out-of-work teachers and a lot fewer school districts with job openings. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.

Savannah River Site holding its first job fair to fill positions created by the $1.6 billion of stimulus cash. There was a big crowd at Midlands Technical College in Columbia. News Channel Six’s Paige Tucker reports.

There are still teaching positions to be filled, according to an online teacher vacancy database maintained by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, & Advancement (CERRA) in Rock Hill. And many of the more than 300 vacancies will be filled Monday, June 1, at the 21st annual South Carolina Teacher Expo co-hosted by CERRA  and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).

The Georgia Department of Labor will host its 15th annual televised job fair next week. The live broadcast, entitled “Job Fair 2009 Preparing For Recovery,“ will be carried statewide on Georgia Public Broadcasting May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. The broadcast will originate from Atlanta, Albany, and Macon.

With unemployment numbers up, many people are trying hard to get a job. Here in the Two-State, hundreds attended a job fair at Augusta State University, eager to find work. Count on WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud for more.

Must work holidays? Yes. Must work weekends? Yes. Must work nights? Yes. But the Greenville Drive, a Class A minor league baseball team, will be looking for up to 200 seasonal workers at a job fair next month.
