The new iPhone is on sale in the U.S., greeted by much smaller lines and less hoopla than previous models.

Apple is trotting out its new line of products - chief among them is a redo of the iPhone. It will be called the iPhone 3GS - and will have a few new wrinkles the original and 3G versions lack. It will have a faster processor, longer battery life, a built-in compass, video camera and a still camera with better resolution and an auto-focus feature.
