Construction On Interstate 20 Will Be Finished Early

Engineers say 80% of the Interstate 20 construction project is finished. A July 2010 completion date has been moved up because the work is slated to be completed a lot earlier. Count on WJBF News Channel 6’s Renita Crawford for the latest.

CSRA Motorists Stay Informed On I-20 Tangle Blog

Motorists now have one resource when it comes to avoiding the ‘tangle’ of Augusta highways. As the scheduled construction on I-20 continues through 2010, motorists will benefit from I20Tangle.com, a blogsite devoted to notify the community and its drivers on the most current construction and traffic conditions. The site, updated weekly, aims to keep motorists informed of any upcoming lane, exit road closures or areas of heavy traffic due to the construction on I-20 and Bobby Jones Expressway.

UPDATED: Augusta Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After High Speed Chase

The Bank of America branch on the 2800 block of Washington was robbed Friday afternoon. Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the search process for the suspect, after a high speed chase. The suspect was arrested near the Grovetown, Georgia exit on I-20. We’re told that the suspect vehicle hit speeds over 100 MPH during the pursuit.

North Augusta Woman Arrested On Felony DUI Charges

A North Augusta woman has turned herself into authorities, after being charged with 2 counts of Felony DUI. Julie Pfinnig Lafon, 45, Is accused of driving down the wrong side of I-20, while intoxicated, on January 31st.

Authorities Arrest 10 in Prostitution Stings In Columbia County

Four women and six men were arrested in an online prostitution sting set up by Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigators. Captain Steve Morris says the women and 2 of the men are charged with prostitution. Four men have been charged with pandering. WJBF News Channel 6’s Renita Crawford has more.

UPDATED: Ambulance Crash Kills Burn Patient

One person is dead after an ambulance wreck in Lexington County today. A spokeswoman for the Joseph M. Still Burn Center says an independent ambulance service was transporting a patient from the burn center to a hospital in North Carolina when the vehicle crashed.

Teen Charged In Accidental Shooting Death On I-20

A 17-year-old boy is dead after Rockdale County authorities said he was shot by another teen who was handling a pistol.

Temporary Lane Closures Scheduled On I-20 Near Georgia Welcome Center

The Georgia Department of Transportation announces lane closures on Interstate Highway 20, in the area of the Georgia Welcome Center, in Richmond County. The Inside lanes of I-20 east and west will be closed from 9 p.m., Friday, January 30 until midnight, Saturday, January 31, weather permitting.

Lane Closures Scheduled On I-20 At Lewiston Road In Columbia County

The Georgia Department of Transportation announces lane closures on Interstate Highway 20 at Lewiston Road (State Route 388) in Columbia County. Inside lanes of I-20 east and west will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, January 29 -30, weather permitting.

Atlanta City Councilman Questions Interstate Lights Bill

Atlanta City Councilman Jim Maddox wants the state or federal government to pay the $1.2 million bill to keep lights burning on three interstate highways that cut through Atlanta and along Langford Parkway.
