Georgia Congressman Wants To End Automatic Citizenship

Congressman Nathan Deal is proposing a change in the long-standing federal policy that automatically grants citizenship to babies born on U.S. soil. Supporters of Deal’s proposal say “birthright citizenship” encourages illegal immigration. Opponents say the proposed law wouldn’t solve the illegal immigration problem and goes against the tradition of welcoming immigrants.

SC Illegal immigrants workers’ comp bill delayed

South Carolina Senators have delayed action on a bill that would bar workers’ compensation benefits for illegal immigrants hurt on the job.  A Senate Judiciary subcommittee took up legislation Wednesday that allows medical payments but prevents illegal immigrants from collecting payments for long-term disability tied to their injuries.

GA driver’s license examiners charged in immigration scheme

Four former driver’s license examiners are among six people accused of a scheme to issue licenses to illegal immigrants in exchange for thousands of dollars.  The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Thursday that a federal grand jury charged the four with conspiracy to commit identify fraud.
